Install It Yourself, Step by Step
Plenty of homeowners lay their own turf over a weekend. With a solid base and the right tools, the job is very manageable. Here is the process in short.
Measure & Prep
Measure the area, remove old grass and dig out 3–4 inches of soil.
Build the Base
Spread and compact crushed rock or decomposed granite, graded for drainage.
Lay & Seam
Roll out turf with the grain in one direction, trim edges and join seams.
Secure & Infill
Staple the perimeter, spread infill evenly and brush the fibers upright.

Less Work, More Weekend
No mowing, edging, fertilizing or reseeding. A quick rinse and an occasional brush keep turf looking sharp.
Save Water
Natural lawns are one of the biggest water users around the home. Swapping to turf can cut outdoor watering dramatically—a big deal in drought-prone states.
Green All Year
No brown patches in summer or mud in winter. Your yard looks the same in August as it does in April.
*Savings vary by region, climate and existing landscape.

Artificial Turf vs. Natural Grass
| Nassgrass Turf | Natural Grass | |
|---|---|---|
| Mowing & edging | Never | Weekly in season |
| Watering | Occasional rinse | Frequent |
| Fertilizer & pesticides | None needed | Regularly |
| Mud & bare spots | No | Common in high-traffic areas |
| Appearance year-round | Consistently green | Seasonal |
Common Questions
How do I choose the right turf?
Start with use: pets need fast-draining backing, play areas need softness, lawns balance looks and feel, and putting greens need a short, dense pile. Call us and we’ll recommend a match.
Can I install turf myself?
Yes. Most DIYers succeed with good base preparation and the right supplies. See our installation guide.
How is turf shipped?
Rolls ship by freight to your address; supplies ship by parcel. See our shipping policy.
How do I clean pet turf?
Remove solid waste, rinse with a hose and use an enzyme-based turf cleaner as needed to control odors.
